We both retired at the end of 2006.
Jim completed his apprenticeship in mechanics and for 20+ years worked as a lecturer at TAFE. For the last 11 years of his career he was the Apprentice Master for the Caterpillar dealership in Perth West Australia. Since retiring he has finished restoring an ex military International truck and a Blitz wireless van. The Blitz which we called "George" in honour of its previous owner was restored for the Normandy trip in 2009.
In June 2012 we shipped George to Vancouver BC and drove approx 1,000kms to Dawson Creek to join a convoy of 97 restored military vehicles and 43 chase vehicles and travelled on the Alaska Highway. The trek of approx 4000 miles started on 4 August and took 4 weeks.
I worked as a Secretary and Law Clerk in legal offices since leaving school and starting work in 1966. For the past 20 years I worked for the same law firm, although it went through a few merges and name changes. I am enjoying the time to pursue my interests in quilting.
Our goal for the future is to travel to different parts of Australia in our restored International truck either on club runs or by ourselves.
Good on you guys,I`ve enjoyed following everyones blog. It`s been nice to have an insight to your travels, all the best,Cam.
